This website has been created to record Murrawarri (Muruwari/Morowari/Murawari) language for the descendants of Millie Parker (nee Campbell, also Shearer). It is for educational purposes only and is not be used for commercial purposes.

Please respect that the words were remembered and recorded by our Murrawarri elders. We thank and acknowledge them for their time, patience and love in preserving our spoken word. Thanks also to the linguists who recorded the written words with great care. Thousands of hours were spent in constructing this website to enable our family to learn Murrawarri so that it is passed down through the generations. The language and knowledge recorded here remains the property of the Murrawarri people.

It is your responsibility to ask permission through your Elders before using the language, outside your own personal and creative use.

I would like to acknowledge and thank all of the elders who contributed to my passion for Murruwarri/Muruwari especially during the 1990s when so much traction was made in Aboriginal Languages. Thank you Uncle Roy and Aunty June Barker who both utterly ignited my passion for Muruwari, to Pilawuk White who taught me so much about culture and giving, to Aunty Beryl Carmichael, Aunty Rose Fernando, and Aunty Emily Walker and Uncle Michael Jarrett from the Muurrbay language Centre, and many others who all shone the light on what was truly important for our children.
