1. Verbs
Verbs are the most complex part of the Murrawarri language. Verbs contain a STEM (the action) and then have a great deal of information built into the suffixes that follow the STEM. To keep the learning simple and incremental, verbs have been divided into four sections of increasing difficulty.
To understand verbs you must know if they are transitive or intransitive.
Transitive and intransitive explained
2. Verb suffix order
The 4 types of suffixes are not randomly attached to the VERB STEM, they have a preferred ORDER. Transitive verbs must have at least one suffix.
Verbs follow the pattern: VERB STEM + (realis) + (voice) + (tense/aspect) + (pronoun)
3. Tense and aspect
Tense tells us about when something happens. Aspect expresses how it happens over time.
4. Bound pronouns
Bound pronouns are pronouns attached to the end of the verb.
5. Voice and realis
